Technical Overview

Introduction.

In autumn 2002, I came to the conclusion that the Metadata plugin had reached the end of its maintainable life, it was becoming too difficult to enhance it. So my thoughts turned to a rewrite and in October I started showing a consultation paper (Metadata Architecture Rethink) to a few developers. Their reaction was just encouraging enough to convince me that I was on the right track and so I began the rewrite in October.
