Hello,

on www.vaetergewinnen.ch I have a variable timestamp "dPublicAKTUELL d". It's the date, when the article is started to be published. Up to now, the default date was a date in the future.

When creating a new article, the user has to set manually a date instead of the existing default-date. In most of all cases the new date is "today". The user would like, that the default-day, written in the variable when he creates a new article, is already "today". But I don't find a way to do that, neither in the definitions of the variable, nor in the definition of the form.

In the definition of the form I could set "Now" - but then it's always "Now" and not the special date, the user has set.

Is there a solution to control the default-date?

Thanks
Gilberto

Gilberto,

Yes, in the form look at the rendering of the variable
dPublicAKTUELL, see the menu Initial? It has values Now, choose that
and you will get an initial value of he date/time the form is
rendered.

Hello David,

what you recommended is not the effect I try to find a solution. If I set "Now" when rendering the form, I get "Now" the first time I create an article - that would be ok. Then perhaps I set another date. The report shows the date set manually. Then I have to enter new datas in any field in the form of this article. When entering the form, the date switches back to "Now" and my entry is lost and I have to set it again (If I still know it).

I need a possibility, that "Now" only appears the first time the article is created. But every next time the form is used, the value must remain the first "Now" or the value set manually.

I understand your question now and have found a solution that
requires a small enhancement to addedValues. The change will add a
way to say the default value of a timestamp variable should be the
current time of day. So if a form uses that variable and sets Initial
to xxx value and there is no current value, the default value will be
used, and that is the current date and time.

I plan to release the next version of addedValues, including this
change, this weekend.

Thank you very much to integrate this need in the next version. My customer will be very happy to hear, you can consider his wishes.
