General Preferences
Demonstration Mode
If you enable Demonstration Mode, you grant public read only access to most addedValue plugin pages, even to non editors. Normally only Managing Editors can see these pages. Any form buttons that actually cause a change to are disabled. This option is intended to help with learning addedValues. The
demoModeLink Macro creates a link to the addedValues homepage, or designated sub-pages if the preference is set.
b284 - the demo mode preference in addedValues now allows viewing, but not setting, options of forms, reports and queries. Viewing of forms, reports and query options/configurationspeicla pages are also now generally visible in demo mode.
b285 - In accordance with the principle that addedValues demo mode does not reveal content otherwise inaccessible, the View Values menu item is no longer permitted to users with access through demo mode is enabled.
Developers Debug and Member Debug.
If you enable Developers Debug Flag a lot of information - typically on a yellow background - is displayed on many pages. Some forms have extra buttons.
The Member Debug Flag is a less intrusive variant; it is a member specific preference that shows only some of the debug information. This may be helpful for advanced scripters who want to study some of the techniques used in addedValues.
Use popup windows for help text
Setting Use popup windows for help text removes the help text from some, but not all, editing pages and adds a link that opens a popup window near the buttons of each form. The idea is to make smaller pages that load faster.
Show developers notes
Setting Show developers notes adds a link to the various addedValues poitn of entry pages for variables, reports, forms queries, etc. which enable a web site developer to create, and view notes from each other. A useful tool for multi-developer websites.
Class on AV forms/buttons
b281- a new preference in the general panel, AVformCSS, has been implemented. When set, addedValues add a class attribute of addedValues to every *internal* form, and a class attribute of AVformCSSButton, to every submit button in those forms. Forms defined by the user are not altered.
Publish Tropes
Setting Publish Tropes turns on the trope server feature; which enables remote users to install self contained web applications (tropes) from your website into their website. You need to define the contents of each trope, and to make each troep visible before any download can take place. This option merely enables the server.
