Queries Sortedby Transform

PlaceHolder page

b198 In reports it is sometimes desirable to link to a message in a Discussion Group, even when the message is in the site structure or is a story. A new qualifier linktoDG allows this in hit reports using message variables. A pseudomacro hitDGURL was also implemented.

b198 a new way of modifying the sort order of hit list has been implemented. Normally, hit lists are returned sorted in the same order as Frontier sorts the sortedBy variable value, or in whatever order results if no sortedBy variable applies. Now addedValues has internal logic to apply a transform function to the value of the sortedBy variable. The available transforms, if any, can be selected from a menu in the form and query options only after a sortedBy variable has been chosen. New variants of transform functions are unlikely to be written without intimate knowledge of addedValues internals, but suggestions are welcome.

The first concrete example of a sort order transform is to sort timestamp variables as descending times within each date; previously the dates and times were both ascending. When used with a report specifying sortdirection of reverse, the effect is latest day to earliest day, but within each day from earlier time to latest time. This is called Time Complement in the menu.
