Importing Data: Configuring Correctly

In the import section of addedValues, import using one of the extensions, such as TabbedGemToMessages, then choose the correct gem from which to import your data.

The following step is configuring the import. Two fields are mandatory as they correspond to Manila basic fields. (thus it is suggested that your tab-delimited file have those two specific headers to simplify matters for you.

You can create new stories or refresh existing ones on the basis of new or corrected data.

• The control field is the subject. To be able to match records undergoing modification with existing records in addedValues, import file must have unique values for the subject field - or else you are going to get very confused, very fast.
• We suggest that you turn the subject into a serial number... after all you don't have to include the subject in your template... This is true for most instances, but becomes practically unavoidable with large databases.
